Summary of Rules & Conditions

We want you to enjoy the day, but above all we want you to be safe. We have some rules that you should follow and you should remember that you must always follow the Highway Code. Our terms and conditions are fairly lenient and we accept things change. We will work hard to accommodate any problems, but this must be within the realms of our powers and costs. As soon as you commit to the event, planning begins and costs are incurred so withdrawals at late stages are difficult for any organiser to accommodate. Our general rule is that provided we have sufficient time to not incur costs, or if we can re-sell your place, we will happily refund your money. We are, however, unable to refund payment processing fees.

You must understand and agree that participation in this event is entirely at your own risk, and you must rely on your own ability in dealing with all hazards, and must ride in a manner that is safe to yourself and others.

No liability whatsoever shall attach to the Company, the promoter, event sponsor, any event official or member in respect of any injury, loss or damage suffered by the participant in or by reason of the event, unless such injury, loss or damage is proven to be caused by negligence.

Our Sportive Rules:

All riders must be at least sixteen years of age on the day of the event to participate.

Rider numbers must be correctly displayed at all times for official identification during the whole event.

No accompanying vehicle may follow individual riders. A rider may receive assistance from a stationary vehicle provided it does not cause an obstruction to any other road traffic and is parked lawfully. Any participant failing to observe this regulation will be withdrawn from the event.

The participant understands and accepts that this event is not a race or trial of speed, but a personal challenge and as such there will be no list published that sorts riders in finishing position order. An alphabetical list of finishers and times will be published.

The wearing of cycle helmets is mandatory for all riders. Timing chips, where used, should be affixed to the rider’s helmet on the left hand side.

The participant must obey the Highway Code and the Law at all times. Any rider found to be contravening these Rules or Event Official’s instructions will be withdrawn from the event. Please be courteous to all other road users and fellow cyclists.

Our marshals and support staff have no power or authority to stop traffic, and are there for your safety. Pay attention at all times and please obey their instructions. Our marshals are encouraged to report unlawful behaviour.

The event organisers reserve the right to terminate an individual’s ride, re-route, cancel or stop the entire event on health and safety grounds. The event will go ahead regardless of weather conditions.

Participants will be responsible for the roadworthiness of their own bicycle and riders must ensure that their bicycles are in good mechanical order and that handlebars are of a conventional design and handlebars, including triathlon bars, aero bars, clip-ons, prayer bars, cow bars and Spinachi type bars are not permitted. ATB’s may have bar ends fitted.

Participants are covered by British Cycling Third Party Insurance for the duration of the event, the cost of which is included in the entry fee.

You may not use your mobile phone while riding. You must stop at the side of the road if you need to make or receive a call.

Any parts and/or tools supplied by the company and/or its representatives in order to assist an entrant in completing the event are used and operated totally at the participant’s own risk.

If used, allocated start times must be adhered to. Missed starts can be accommodated at the discretion of the organiser.
